ANIMATED MULTISPECTRAL SATELLITE IMAGERY DEPICTS AN AREA OF PERSISTENT CONVECTION WITH A DEVELOPING LOW-LEVEL CIRCULATION CENTER (LLCC) AT THE END OF A FRONTAL BOUNDARY. A 200001Z ASCAT (METOP-B) IMAGE DEPICTS 30 KNOT WINDS CONFINED TO THE SOUTHWESTERN PERIPHERY OF THE CIRCULATION. ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS REVEALS FAVORABLE CONDITIONS WITH LOW (10-15KTS) VERTICAL WIND SHEAR, WARM SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURES (28-29 C), AND MODERATE POLEWARD OUTFLOW. GLOBAL MODELS INDICATE CONTINUOUS DEVELOPMENT, WITH GOOD AGREEANCE THAT 98S WILL TRACK GENERALLY EASTWARD OVER THE MOZAMBIQUE CHANNEL OVER THE NEXT 24-48 HOURS.
